"Less" versus "Fewer"

Is this sentence correct:

"Less and less resources are available to humans due to overpopulation."

No.  It should read, "Fewer and fewer resources are available to humans due to overpopulation."

As one anonymous reader wrote, count nouns take 'fewer' and noncount (mass) nouns take 'less'.

Now, that is the official rule; however, Grammar Girl has found a much easier way of dealing with the dilemma of whether to use "less" or "fewer." The Grammar Girl website provides a detailed explanation and a few tricks that will make it easier for you to understand how and when to use these two words.
